More Precious
Sep 19, 2023What if I could tell you that I can teach you something that will give you the most success, the most power, the best relationships, the finest things of life? Would you be intrigued? skeptical? It seems we always are looking for the secret sauce that will cut through the process, the waiting, the work? and bring us to our goals. Or maybe that's the assumption, that we want overnight success, if my social media feed is any indication.
On social media, my feed is full of courses, and masterminds, and webinars that claim they have the secret system or funnel or email sequence that will guarantee tens of thousands of dollars, hundreds of followers and subscribers, and endless leads to new clients, all the things we think define success.
Turns out, I have a source that is superior to all those advertised on the internet. "Those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD. But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death."
"You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it...Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her." (Proverbs 8:35-36, 5, and 10-11).
Wisdom seems to be an increasingly rare commodity in our culture. It's as if we as a culture have no idea how valuable it is, or how it can impact our life and business.
When God approached Solomon with a proposition— "Ask Me anything!" —and Solomon chose wisdom to rule God's people, God honored him with wealth and success beyond imagination. Wisdom was his greatest need, and he was self-aware enough to ask the Source of wisdom for it.
Solomon personifies wisdom in Chapter 8 of Proverbs. Listen to the qualities...
"I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgement are mine; I have insight. I have power... I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver." (verses 12-14, 17-19)
God's economy is different. Scripture said he brought forth Wisdom as the first of His works and blessed are those who keep my ways.
How do wwe acquire it? James wrote that if anyone lacks wisdom, he or she need only ask God for it. He gives generously to all. His word is full of instruction for how to live life successfully, how to do business with integrity, how to bring God glory and be richly rewarded for faith and obedience.
How long since you asked Him for wisdom? It's more precious than rubies. Ask Him today!
